I just found a free Spanish course from the BBC.
Well actually, I didn’t find it. One of my students found it and let me know about it.
As the Spanish course is from the BBC, it has really high quality production.
Although I am very happy with our mix of audio and action guides in Bola de Nieve and Synergy Spanish, I have to say, I am a little envious of the production values the BBC can produce.
It has an interactive video format.
You may find it a little too basic for you depending on where you are with your Spanish. On the other hand, it could also be just what you need, especially if you haven’t spent a lot of time around native Spanish speakers.
So, why not check it out and see if it helps your Spanish.
Here’s the link to the BBC Spanish course – Mi Vida Loca
I’d like to know what you think, can you do me a favor and leave a comment here on the blog.
Saludos
Marcus
What a great set of videos! It’s surprisingly enjoyable to use.
Muchas gracias Marcus. Thank you so much for directing me to this site. I shall find it very useful. I am not having formal lessons but use your synergy Spanish, and La Vida Loca will work well alongside this.
Hola Marcus,
Si, Mi Vida Loca es estupendo! Pero, prefiero su curso (Bola de Nieve) para aprender Espanol.
Estoy disfrutando de trabajo a través del segundo módulo, aunque muy lentamente.
Keep up the good work.
Jim
Being of English nationality, I am already familiar with the BBC Spanish Website and Mi Vida Loca. I have actually met the teacher in it, Esther, from León, when I was doing a course with her in London. She is very good and I agree, Mi Vida Loca is very good for beginners for every-day situations, but also good for revision for intermediate abilities. Thanks Marcus for highlighting the course for people in other countries.

Found the BBC production well done and informative, however I get much more out
of your lessons where we have to repeat phrases which are then built into sentances.
It builds vocabulary and grammar at the same time. And the short time interval of about
10 minutes is perfect for a few basic words and verb congugations. If I miss a point, it is
very easy to get my MP3 player to repeat it. I use it a lot when driving and find it
just the vehicle ( no pun intented) I need for learning conversational Spanish..

Marcus, your course is great and in a lot of ways can run alongside the BBC ‘Mi Vida Loca’. I find it quite stimulating to switch from audio to video learning but I must admit, I remember what I’ve learnt from Shortcut to Spanish more easily, probably because it builds up methodically. Well done and thank you.
Excellent b.b.c. program but if you adapted it we would never learn as much as we already had. As you say great for beginners.
I think it is all fantastic and thanx so much for free lessons,I love going walking listening to my i-pod with all the lessons on . FANTASTIC

Este es muy interesante. Gracias
I wish they had gone through it in Spanish first, then in English, I found the English jarring but loved feeling as if I were in Spain and hearing the Spanish. Thanks so much for finding this.
The only episode that opens for me is the first one. Too bad, i was having fun during the first Epiode. Haw is everyone else doing?
hola marcus.te doy a gracias por tu apoyo y guia.all d informations you have been providing proves very useful and practical.thanks for the good job.
I love this I truly do. And I appreciate that you keep sending me spanish material.
hola Marcus,
This looks good and I am going to give it a try.
My spanish has been on hold for the last year due to a serious bout with cancer.
I appreciate the help you have given with the Espanol curso.
Gracias

I much prefer Synergy Spanish. However, Mi Vida Loca helps if you are not living in a Spanish speaking country. Anything that makes you more confident speaking a new language is always useful. Muchas gracias.
cheers for the site you told me about ,really great fun and good to watch the speakers as well this makes it more interesting to learn, you feel you are there,,once again muchas gracias por tu ayuda
I have been following Mi Vida Loca for several weeks and have really enjoyed it.
Not that impressed – very slow loading – so lost interest, o.k. fine for an absolute beginner-but I prefer synergy Spanish.
A mí me gusta -La Vida Loca-, pero Bola de Nieve es, en mi opinion, mejor… Sin embargo, estoy haciendo La Vida Loca con mis chicos porque les encanta la cuenta 🙂
Hi Marcus
I really like this course and find it quite easy to follow.
Muchas gracias
From the little I have looked at so far, it looks good and will become very helpful.
Muchas gracias
Loks and sounds like a very helpful site.Iwas in Madrid a few weeks ago and can remember seeing some of the of the places in the video. Thanks Marcus
Muchas gracias,
Wayne
I find Mi Vida Loca useful for the every day spanish conversation and activity, e.g buying coach tickets, ordering food, taking a taxi etc. As many of the participants are doing their usual jobs (are not actors) they speak and act accordingly. The early episodes having been filmed in Madrid are actual settings not stage props, which is helpful for a prospective visitor.
I found this course a few weeks ago and have completed all the availalbe episodes. I cant wait for the next batch, due out end September. The course is very well put together, the ‘talking phrasebook” is absolutely brilliant, popping up just when you need him. What I really like is the interactivity – clicking on the right arrow for directions, choosing from menus, etc. The whole thing is very up to date, and filmed in a way which makes you think you are actually walking around Madrid and surrounding countryside. The people you meet are natural and everyday. It’s by far the best resource I have found anywhere.
Seems good. But commentator too fast in spots

Mi Vida Loca is very helpfull, especially for learners who are not in daily contact with native spanish speakers. The fast speech is especially a realistic skilll to understand and master Spanish in real life. Thank you for introducing me to this course for beginners.

Had a look at Mi Vida Loca, its very good, a little slow for me but would be ideal for anyone starting spanish for the first time. Its a good way of forming sentences and making sense of certain words.I find the Synergy Spanish Course works for me because its more advance and I can now have a conversation and ask question in spanish without having to refer back to English.
Muchas gracias
I haven’t had a chance to work with the program as of yet, however it appears to be a workable asset……………..thank you
thank you for the link but i bit to basic
Thank you for the link to the BBCs Vida Loca. I agree that it is a very well produced series. I had tried the first 2 or 3 episodes before I found Synergy Spanish. I am learning more from Synergy Spanish than I ever have from any of the Spanish courses I have attempted in the past.
Well, I cannot seem to pull anything up so I cannot give you a comment. I am going to visit my daughter this weekend and I will see if syhe can show me how to pull it up….I am interested in Bola de Nieve, however I would only want it if I can get it on a C.D or audio tape. Please let me know if you will this available and what the cost will be thank you. By the way, I am really enjoying the Synergy Spanish Course It was exactly what I was looking for and what I needed. Thanks
