Here’s a difference between Latin American Spanish and Peninsula (Spain) Spanish.
It’s also a really good expression to add to your repertoire:
Que lo pases bien
In Latin America they tend to say it like this:
Que la pases bien
It’s a small difference; a bit like that song, “you say tomaYto I say tomaHto.” Perhaps the song should say,
Yo digo tomate (España), tu dices jitomate. (México)
Que lo/la pases bien is one of those phrases that is easy to miss. Yet once you know it you start noticing Spanish speakers use it all the time.
If you spend any time around Spanish speakers, listen out for it; it won’t take long ’til you hear it.
And also have a go at using it next time you want to tell your friends “have a good time” – it’ll make your Spanish sound genuine and authentic.
