I had a girlfriend around 15 years ago who was such a good swimmer that she even competed in triathlons. Of course, I on the other hand would sink like a stone.

Like any good girlfriend she decided I needed fixing. She made it her mission to teach me to swim. Little did she know what she was getting into.

When she first took me to the pool she put me in a full wetsuit, flippers and a kickboard. I stood out like a sore thumb. Everyone wondered what I was doing.

She understood that before I could swim I had to become comfortable in the water.

She could have just pushed me in the pool. I am sure some girlfriends would have loved to do that.

But if that happened I probably would have never visited the pool again.

Yet that’s exactly what happens to many people when they try to learn Spanish. They get thrown in the deep end. Like a drowning man they flay around desperately trying to find some Spanish to hold on to.

Eventually they start drowning.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

There are simple ways to make learning Spanish comfortable, exciting and even fun. Soon speaking Spanish becomes normal. It’s just what you do.

Where before your mind went blank, you now know enough to get the gist of the conversation and fill in any blanks where you don’t.

You come away better at Spanish after every conversation. There is nothing to fear any more.

You feel great and jump at opportunities to use your Spanish.

Spanish speakers start to compliment you on your skills in their language, because they aren’t used to hearing English speakers speak their language so well.

Your English-speaking friends start saying things to you like, “I wish I could speak another language as well as you do.”

Well, they could do it, if they started off with the right tools instead of being pushed in the deep end.

The best Spanish safety devices I know for getting started with Spanish are Synergy Verbs, Brick Verbs and Mortar words. You can use them to turn 138 words into 88,000 Spanish phrases.

If you want to learn to swim you have to get wet. But that doesn’t mean you have to drown.

The Audio Accelerator System lessons on the link below let you get wet without drowning.
