Whether you are a fanático del fútbol or not, the excitement will be hard to avoid over the next few weeks.
The Copa de America takes place this month. It’s a South American tournament, but this year it’s being held in the United States.
On the other side of the pond there is also Euro 2016 involving the best countries from Europe.
That’s two gigantic soccer tournaments in one month.
The USA is both hosting and participating in the Copa de America.
I predict the United States is going to become loco por el fútbol (crazy about soccer) – especially if their team does well.
Did you know “More Americans watched the Women’s World Cup final than the NBA Final or Stanley Cup”?
25.4 million US viewers watched that game.
The USA is catching on to el fútbol.
And Team America looks good. They could go all the way.
And in Europe, while Spain’s team isn’t at the World Cup winning level of 2010, they always have a chance in any torneo de futbol.
To get you involved in these huge happenings, I’ve put together an all-new video series of Free Spanish lessons. They are all about the passion, unity and friendship that el fútbol stirs up in Spanish speakers.
Even if el fútbol isn’t your thing, you’ll still be able to pick up some handy dandy, everyday Spanish from the videos. It’ll help you tell your amigos what floats your boat, what you like and love, about your passions and your friendships.
The first video is below, just press the play button to get started speaking Spanish.

Hola Marcus,
I am now halfway through the Synergy Spanish, and thoroughly enjoying it. I am very slow to learn, but this is by far the best course of Spanish I have tried. As you say, with most lessons, they concentrate on the verbs & all their conjugations, which I found very hard to remember. With your system, it is very easy to understand & great fun. I am planning a trip to Spain next month, for a month and really looking forward to trying out my new Spanish phrases. Thanks again, keep up the good work. By the way, I have just finished doing the Spanish Passion, Unity & Friendship blog, which is brilliant.
Saludos
Don
I really like the video versions of all the available lessons. I find that sinks in quicker for me.
Thank you.
This lesson is also really nice.
Hi Marcus,
I am really grateful to you for these lessons. I could never have imagined using the old method of “drill” in an expanded form. It is very clever and useful!
Thanks a lot.
