I couldn’t resist using that title
This Sideways Spanish video has nothing to do with extramarital affairs. (The expression, a bit on the side, means an affair to Aussies and Brits.)
This twist on verbs makes your Spanish flow.
It’s a very simple change in approach that brings speaking Spanish to life. It makes the language doable for everyone at any age.
The sideways approach eliminates all the intimidation of verb charts. Conjugation confusion disappears.
Give it a good old-fashioned try below:

Muchas Gracias Marcus,

I very much like this way of learning Spanish

YOU MAKE IT EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND PRONOUNCE HOW MUCH FUN THIS CAN BE THIS IS GREAT.
I am really over the moon wish had a friend speaking Spanish so that I can speak Spanish fluently. Thank you Marcus
Hello Marcus! loving my Spanish lessons though I cant financially commit to the 14 modules. Is it possible to purchase them one at a time as and when money allows ?
Thought I had lost you as I had not received any emails since before Christmas..
Been so full on with family etc I had abandoned the lessons and computer anyway. Ahh! today I find this one and it’s a great feeling to have the Spanish words rolling over my tongue again.
Muchas gracias
Hi Marcus,
Thank you for the free 14 minutes of Spanish which I could do in a flash.
I also worked through the Synergy course which I received by mail and everything seems quite easy to me; however, it was great practice to become more fluent in simple Spanish. I have now the confidence to talk when I visit Mexico next month.
Please keep in touch and many thanks, Irene
I like it, since it builds in small, manageable increments, instead of requiring a significant effort to memorize a large number of words during each lesson.
Thank you Marcus!
I am still working on the synergy spanish program.
I am still going for my Spanish classes on Saturdays which i think i will have to stop as i am kind of confuses.
I am very happy to continue with synergy spanish program thank you for sending the free lessons as they keep me wanting to learn more!
The video on a bit of Spanish on the side, i find it very useful for me…the problem i have been having is putting a sentence together but with the way you are teaching its much easy for me.
Regards,
Rosita
this is really great. Thank you so much. We should be quite fluent between this and the length of time (we leave for Barcelona the last week of August) and the flash cards, and the bits and pieces that we have picked up in Mexico, Cuba, Columbia, Venezuela, etc.
I’m sure I will make you proud. (And I wont hesitate to pass your lessons on to others I know are going to Spanish speaking plces.
Once again, thanks so much.
Hi Dianne, I’m Bill. I made the first comment at the botom of this page. I apologize for sticking my nose into someone elses business but when I read your comment I thought maybe I could help. Me doesn’t really mean me as we use it in English. It means “to me”. Gusta doesn’t mean “like” as we know it. Gustar means to please or enjoy so me gusta actually means “It pleases me.” Same general meaning.
Hi Marcus
Thank you for this It is helping greatly with my learning methods. I intend to learn as much of the Spanish language as I can. I amazes me how much stays in my head and what I can say already.
thank you once again
Elsie
Hi Marcus, thoroughly enjoyed the lesson, just wish I had more time to spend on the language and more opportunities to speak it. A visit to Patagonia in October 2015 is on the horizon so that will give me more of an incentive. At the moment enjoying the free lessons. Muchas Gracias.
Hi Marcus
This s a great video.
What is the rule for changing yo to me?
You say
yo hablo, I speak,
but
me gusta, I like?
Thanking you in anticipation of your kind reply.
Regards Dianne
Fantastic technique for learning spanish. In fact, it is the best approach to learning spanish that I have found in two years of learning via online programs.
Thank you Marcus!
I am still working on the synergy spanish program. Honestly, before finding this program I bought several books and someone even gave me – for free – the Rosetta Stone program. But I found all of these to be too tedious and time consuming for little return. The synergy spanish has opened a new world for me to be able to now communicate with people in my Hispanic church. Several have told me how amazed they are that I am now speaking so much more!
When I am done with the synergy spanish, I definitely will do the bola de Nieve program. And thank for sending the free lessons as they keep me wanting to learn more!
Deborah
isnit this a “say and repeat” system?
Not at all! A say and repeat system is passively parroting what you hear. The Synergy Spanish and Bola de Nieve systems require thinking, interacting and involvement. It may not be for you, that’s fine, but it’s a language breakthrough for many of my students, especially those 40 years and over.

HELLO SENOR MARCUS, THANK YOU FOR THE LESSON. I LIKE THIS METHOD
OF TEACHING. I’m STILL STUDYING AND HOPING TO BUY SOMETHING SOON.
. I WAS ABLE TO DO ALL THE PHRASES &/OR SENTENCES. I’LL BE IN
TOUCH WITH YOU PRETTY SOON. I ALWAYS APPRECIATE THE FREEBIES.
JIM WINGARD
Enjoyed the mini lesson. Finishing “Shortcut to Spanish” soon. Bola de Nieve next.
If this first month is free why do you need to give my credit card details before I decide to carry on with the course. i would like to have the months trial then if I decide to carry on will give my details but not before.
Best Wishes,
Jilly
Hi Marcus,
I appreciate this new help.
Have a nice day!
dia is masculine, so Los dias is correct. (Just one of those things you have you have to remember.)
Synergy Spanish is really helping me get back into my Spanish learning in a big way. I always feel that I have learned something, achieved something and most of all remembered something when I have completed a lesson. I am completely self taught up to now but was getting bogged down with the grammar and verb books. Thanks to Synergy Spanish not only am I enjoying learning but I’ve got the confidence to speak Spanish and afterall languages are for speaking.
Vivienne. Dia is a masculine noun although title ends in an a. El dia.
Good luck everyone.
Hi Marcus,
I love your way of teaching Spanish!
With your help I am sure I will master it to communicate with the Spanish world.
Thanks!
and woohoo, I think I understood most of Bill’s comment below, or will it be above?:)
Hi Marcus
Maybe I have missed something, but isn’t dia feminine? I was wondering about Los Dias.
Thank you for introducing me to the first person singular. I now know more how to use that pattern form. Next, I only want the second person singular verb pattern. I don’t want to be using the formal usted. Can I get that without buying the whole program? Regards,
No, the way it works you need to follow the sequence that is built into the course.
After I have finished the Synergy Spanish, I would be interested in Bola de Nieve.
When you send them like that I can’t get the audios or the videos.
Send it so I can download it.
There is no doubt in my mind I am missing out on some really awesome stuff.
What a brilliant mini lesson. I needed this to get me going again as when I’m in Espana, I do well to understand others but are very bad at replying. It’s embarrassing. …lol
Thanks Marcus!
Great news for you, if you are already doing well at understanding then replying is easy to improve.
My Spanish isn’t too bad but I felt this is excellent revision. Many thanks for making this available.
Yo tengo que estar de acuerdo con todo que usted dijo. Su método de instrucción es muy superior. Pasé 8 horas por día, 5 días por semana durante 6 meses aprendiendo vocabulario y uniones del verbo en todos los tiempos durante 6 meses en una escuela del idioma Español en Washington D.C. Lo que me salvó era el hecho que nuestro maestra era una señora buena de Argentina que no habló ningún inglés y ella no les permitió a sus estudiantes hablar inglés en clase.
As you can see, I still have a ways to go. That’s why I appreciate your emails very much.
