There are many amazing sights in the Spanish speaking world. This one is in the top five on my Spanish bucket list.
Timing is key as you have to time your visit just right as it only happens twice a year.
Tomorrow is one of two chances you get each year to witness this amazing event.
If you are lucky enough to be in Chichen Itza mañana, you’ll see a 10-story snake slither down the side of a pyramid.
Si Dios quiere, (God willing) I’ll get to see the shadowy serpent before I kick the bucket.
Maybe I’ll see you in Chichen Itza on the equinox one year. We’ll witness a feat of Astronomical genius.
The Mayans had no calculators, telescopes or computers.
Yes, I know I’m “Captain Obvious”! But imagínate (just imagine) what they achieved without any of today’s technology.
¡Es increíble!
One comment: 21/22 June is the Northern Hem summer solstice; the equinoctes are 21 Marzo and 21 Settiembre.
Yes, I will. By the way, I love Merida. It’s a wonderful city.
Hi Marcus – Let me know if you plan to go. I live in Merida – a “stone’s throw” from Chichen Itza – and I’ll see you there!!
Thanks for the blogpost. I have a question about it. I received an email about this post, but most of the times I don´t get email when you post a new blogpost and I often wonder why. It is not in my junkmail either. So it was only a coincidence that I could join the Fearless Fluency Conversation before it was to late because I didn´t see the post.
But anyway I just want to keep myself updated. I really like your way of teaching and it has helped me so much. Still have a lot to learn, but I do speak a lot to spanish people at the moment and they never say “Cómo?” to me any more. So I am really happy. I listen to your courses every day. Even if I can have really advanced conversations at the moment, I am not fluent in any way and I have to concentrate a lot to understand all what is said. But I just keep listening and learning. I also use a lot of spanish podcast, which has helped me a lot.
Good to hear you are making progress with your Spanish. If you are on Facebook, you might want to follow my page as well.
